How many integers n are there such that the quantity |2n^2+23n+11| is prime?

logic: the polynomial can be written as |(2n+1)(n+11)| the result will only be prime if one of the quantities is equal to one or -1. therefore n could be 0, -1, -12 or -10. When both 0 and -10 are substtituted as n, they both result in primes. 11 and 19 respectively. When -12 is substituted the answer is 23... prime. When -1 is subsituted as n, the result is 10... not prime. therefore the answer is 3.

expand the "answer" to get 8ab - 12(a+b) + 18. lets use properties of sum/product of roots. sum: -b/a. thats -3. product: c/a thats -7

so... 8(-7) - 12(-3) + 18 = -56+36+18 = -56 + 54 = -2

the ans is -2
